What is Nutrition and it's types?

 Nutrition 

The process of intake and utilisation of food is called Nutrition.




Why we take Nutrition?

1.To get energy that will help us in doing work.

2.For our Growth and Development.

3.Repair of damage tissues.

4.For other metabolic activites 

Types of Nutrition

1.Autotrophic Nutrition:- The organisms that make their food by own are called autotrophs.This process of taking Nutrition is called Autotrophic Nutrition.

Eg.Plants etc 

Types of Autotrophic Nutrition

1.Photoautotrophic Nutrition:-

 The process of Nutrition in which autotrophs prepares their food in the presence of sunlight is called Photoautotrophic Nutrition.

Eg:- Plants,Cyanobacteria 

2.Chemoautotrophic Nutrion:-

The autotrophs who prepares their food in the absence of sunlight with the help of chemicals is called ChemoautoTrophic Nutrion.

Eg.Green Sulphur Bacteria etc.


Heterotrophic Nutrition:- The organisms who are dependent on other organisms to obtain their food are called Heterotrphos.this mode of taking Nutrition is called Heterotrophic Nutrion.

Eg.Animals etc.

Types of Heterotrophic Nutrion

1.Holozoic Nutrition:- 

Organisms feed by ingesting whole food material.

Food is digested and absorbed inside the body.

Categories of Holozoic Nutrition 

1.Hebivores:- Herbivores organisms are those organisms that feed plants, leaves,fruits 

Eg.Deer etc 

2.Carnivores:- Carnivores animals are those animals whose primary food is meat.

Eg.lion etc.

3.Omnivorous :- An omnivore can defined as an animal that usually obtains their nutrients by feeding on both the plants and animals 

Eg. Human etc.

2.Saprotrophic Nutrition 

Organism feed on dead and decaying matter.

Food is digested externally and then nutrients are absorbed.

Eg. Bread Mould,Mushrooms etc.

3.Parasitic Nutrition 

Organisms derive Nutrition from plants or animals without killing them 

Obtain Nutrition by living on or inside the host.

E.g Head lice,Tape Worm,Ticks,Cascuta etc.


4.Symbiotic Relationship 

Symbiosis is defined as a relationship or interaction between two different organisations that share similar habitat.

E.g Algae And Fungi 

Autotrophic Nutrition

Photosynthesis:-It is a process by which photoautotrophs prepares their food with the help of light CO2,water and chlorophyll in the form of Glucose (C6H12O6)

6CO2+12H20-------------------> C6H12O6+6O2+6H2O

Steps of Photosynthesis

1.Absoption of light energy by chlorophyll.

2.Conversion of light energy to chemical energy and splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen.

3.Reduction of Carbon Dioxide to Carbohydrates.
